Scarcity Mentality

How do I start a post on such a huge topic? Where do I want to go with this?

Compliments
When an authority figure gives praise to someone else, not you, do you feel a little bit jealous? A little bit like..."Well, I'll just have to work harder so that next time I get noticed instead of him/her." I'm not saying there's anything dishonorable in working your absolute hardest and wanting to be recognized for your hard work. But sometimes we get caught up in thinking that it's either you or someone else that will get the praise and forget that there is enough praise to go around, so that both of you are honored for the work you are doing.

I feel like that sometimes. I forget that things like congratulations, encouragement, love, friendship, conversation, and hugs are unending and NOT in short supply.

And I guess the name for that is "scarcity mentality". True entrepreneurs, true friends, true visionaries...they don't have that scarcity mentality. They see possibilities and the extension of opportunities. They never see an end to the intangible things in life that truly make the world go round. They are genuine. They spend time on you and with you because they believe in people. And they don't believe that spending time or money on something means that time or money has been "lost"...they see it as having been "invested".

I want to keep working on this...I want to be an "investor" in people, instead of always thinking of the best way to spend my time and love, so that I don't "waste" it, I want to see everything I do as an investment.
